Operation Red Nose Yorkton Will Not Provide Its Safe Ride Service in 2020

Yorkton, October 7, 2020 – Operation Red Nose Yorkton will not provide its safe ride service during the 2020 holiday season. Given the current public health situation and considering its logistical impacts, Operation Red Nose has decided not to provide its safe ride service nationally, which includes our region.

“The safety of our volunteers, clients, and local host organizations has always been one of our top priorities,” said Jean-Philippe Giroux, Executive Director for Operation Red Nose. “The decision was made after long and careful consideration, and not without emotion. We remain convinced that positive initiatives will be possible this holiday season. In the meantime, we want to remind everyone to always plan ahead for a safe way to get home.” In November, Operation Red Nose Yorkton will reveal the details of its 2020 awareness campaign, which will exclude the safe ride service this year.

Operation Red Nose Yorkton and Kinsmen Club of Yorkton wishes to thank all volunteers and sponsors for their support year after year. The 2020 campaign will certainly be different, but we know that we will be able to count on their support to get through this unusual period and meet again in 2021, with our red vests on, to safely drive people home in our community.

About Operation Red Nose Yorkton
The Operation Red Nose Yorkton’s safe ride service has been provided for 3 years in the community by the Kinsmen Club of Yorkton, and our mission is to encourage responsible behavior (in a non-judgmental manner) with regard to impaired driving by enabling communities to provide a free and confidential chauffeur service to their members, as a fundraiser for our organization. Every year, the safe ride service helps raise approximately $3,000 in donations in our community, and this sum is 100% turned over to our organization to help fund local youth or amateur sports projects.
